The bird bombs were adding up and pi55ing me off royally (two have etched into the bonnet after being baked in with the great weather we’ve had over the last few days).

Rinsed, shampoo’d sealed and tyres dressed.

Then I did the neighbour’s Honda Jazz, it’s not her’s but a patient’s she treats. So I gave it a quick going over. Looks like it’s had a knock to the front passenger side with a very poor paint job to the front bumper, front passenger wing and half of the front passenger door.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Very poor paint job, very coarse and grabby paint.

Kinja'd!!!

Very poor prep and execution of paint on the front bumper.

With birds that overactive I can see why you gravitated towards detailing.

Nice work. Whenever I get “bird bombs” (I like that) it always seems to be the day after a wash doesn’t it? For the most part what really mar rs the appearance of my car is rain and pollen working in cahoots. I tried to pressure wash this off and it mostly worked but it left it all spotty. I think it is time for another bath.

Do you know of anything that might be able to bring back this faded plastic trim?

They used to be worse. There was a utilities warehouse at the end of the road and they’d gather on the roof. Since they knocked it down, they’ve been nesting amongst the rubble. They are very territorial so fly out from time to time to scare off other birds. I’d happily shoot every damned one.

For faded plastic trim I use Gtechniq C4 (C5 or C1+ will do the j ob, it’s the same thing) for long term restoration or Gtechniq T1 Tyres & Trim for short term, three months, protection and dressing.

For the door rubbers I use Einszett Gummi Pfledge, it restores the suppleness to the rubber.

There is a car shampoo I use in the summer, Gtechniq UV wash, it’s for boats but offers UV protection and seems to do a good job in repelling birds due to it’s anti static behaviour it leaves behind, though it doesn’t bead or sheet water.

I almost wonder if they consider the cars unresponsive intruders with their bird brains not quite grasping why they leave or come back.
